The Carmen Thyssen Málaga Museum celebrates Andalusia Day with free opening and guided tours

The festive day on Wednesday, February 28 will include tours of the Collection in English and Spanish

The Carmen Thyssen Málaga Museum celebrates the Andalusia Day holiday, next Wednesday, February 28, with an open day, with free access for all visitors. The hours will be the usual ones, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., with access until half an hour before closing.

Additionally, during Andalusia Day, the Museum will offer a series of free guided tours of the Permanent Collection, in both English and Spanish. Through them, our guides will stop especially at works by the main Andalusian painters housed in the Collection.

Visits in Spanish will take place at 12:00, 1:00 p.m., 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., while visits in English will take place at 11:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

Each of the appointments has a maximum capacity of 20 people, and those interested can register directly at the ticket office upon entering the Museum.

‘Man Ray. Selected photographs’ in the Noble Room

Andalusia Day coincides with the temporary exhibition ‘Man Ray. Selected Photographs’, which houses the Museum’s Noble Room until next April 21.

The free opening of the Museum also includes the possibility of visiting this exhibition that delves into this American photographer, one of the great revolutionaries of this artistic discipline, through some of his most iconic works.

‘Man Ray. Selected Photographs’ brings together more than sixty pieces by Emmanuel Radnitzky (Philadelphia, 1890 – Paris, 1976) – the author’s real name -, from a private French collection.

The exhibition is structured around three themes: the nude, the portrait and his personal rayograms: photographs taken without a camera that were obtained by placing objects on the photosensitive paper and exposing them to light for seconds.

Semana Blanca at the Museum

On the other hand, the Carmen Thyssen Málaga Museum has programmed, once again, from its Education Area, a series of activities for White Week, a non-school period that annually coincides with Andalusia Day.

From the exhibition ‘Man Ray. Selected Photographs’, from February 26 to March 1 the ‘Made by Ray’ proposal will take place, a two-day activity in which boys and girls between 5 and 12 years old will explore the work of the American photographer. Participants in the activity have had the opportunity to register on the Museum’s website www.carmenthyssenmalaga.org in the previous weeks.
