Fruits and Vegetables Eladio professionalizes its structure after 20 years of history and prepares its arrival in Madrid

The Malaga-based distributor, which reached a turnover of 30.7 million euros in 2024, completes a 17-month internal restructuring process. In addition to focusing its expansion on the capital, the company breaks into the fourth and fifth range with the launch of fresh juices, cut fruit, and allergen-free gazpacho.

Two decades after beginning its journey as one of the indispensable names in the distribution of vegetables and fruits for fine dining in southern Spain, Frutas y Verduras Eladio (FYVE) takes a leap in scale. The Malaga-based company presented this Thursday at the Hotel Don Carlos de Marbella the roadmap that will guide its growth over the coming years, marked by the professionalization of its executive leadership, the diversification of its commercial catalog, and an ambitious national expansion plan whose main short-term objective is focused on the Community of Madrid.

The meeting, supported by the mayor of Marbella, Ángeles Muñoz, served to stage the corporate metamorphosis of a firm that has decided to adapt its operations to the business volume reached in recent years.

The origin of this new stage dates back to early 2025. With its twentieth anniversary on the horizon, the founder and owner of the company, Eladio Rueda, promoted two independent audits to assess the organization's level of efficiency. The diagnosis placed the company before the need to take a definitive step: transforming a foundational model with a strong family character into a corporation equipped with industrialized processes and specialized profiles.

From the second quarter of that same year, FYVE began the gradual renewal of its executive committee. The incorporation of experienced professionals in areas such as General Management, Human Resources, Systems, Marketing, Finance, and Expansion allowed for a comprehensive review of workflows in the 6,000-square-meter facilities that the firm operates at Mercamálaga.

«Reaching twenty years is a source of pride, but also a demand to reflect on the company we want to have ready for the coming decades,» explained Eladio Rueda during the event. «We have made deep decisions, incorporated executive talent, and modernized operations without losing our raison d’être: the direct commitment to the farmer and to the professional client».

For her part, the new general manager, Macarena Valiente, emphasized the profound nature of the restructuring: «It was not simply about adding names to the organizational chart, but about defining responsibilities, unifying procedures, and consolidating an organizational structure capable of supporting the sustained growth of the company without compromising service quality».

In parallel with the institutional redesign, Frutas y Verduras Eladio has decided to open new business lines to capture greater added value in the agri-food chain. In a market where professional kitchens increasingly demand ready-to-eat solutions, the company is finalizing its entry into the fourth and fifth range segments.

Among the most immediate launches stands out the development of an industrial gazpacho line free of allergens and suitable for celiacs, designed to meet the hygienic standards of modern hospitality. This proposal will be joined by a range of fresh citrus juices and a fresh-cut fruit line oriented toward the hotel sector and organized catering.

Geographical projection is the other major pillar of this change of cycle. The company has set its strategic objective on the Community of Madrid, a key market in which it intends to establish its model of personalized distribution and rigorous selection at origin. To lead this expansion, FYVE has appointed Thomas Stork as director of Expansion, a professional with a long career in luxury hotel and gastronomic management, assisted by Lukas Moerlen in the project's financial management.

At the same time, the company has accelerated its presence in the segment of large collectives and public institutions. In recent months, FYVE has secured supply contracts for penitentiary centers in Andalusia, Madrid, and the Levante area, in addition to the fruit and vegetable supply network for 2,020 public schools dependent on the Junta de Andalucía.

The figures endorse the dimension of this Malaga distributor. FYVE closed the 2024 fiscal year with sales of 30.73 million euros, representing an 8.63% increase compared to the previous period. With a continually growing workforce and a catalog exceeding 1,100 product references, the company manages more than 160,000 deliveries annually.

Despite the corporatization process, management reiterated its commitment to local agricultural development. Through the initiative Calma Eladio, created in 2022, the distributor promotes fair trade agreements with small farmers in the province of Malaga, ensuring stable prices at origin and guaranteeing 'kilometer-zero' products for haute cuisine.

The commemorative day concluded at the facilities of the Hotel Don Carlos with a lunch jointly designed by the establishment's chef, Fran Zafra, and Thomas Stork himself. The proposal paid homage to local raw materials before a broad representation of the Andalusian business fabric and the hotel's executive team, led by Jorge Manzur, closing an event that symbolizes the formal start of a new corporate phase for the distributor.
