Málaga will bring together international leaders to discuss the impact of longevity on health and the economy
LifeSpan Summit 2026 will bring together nearly 200 representatives from the business, financial, healthcare, and institutional sectors from October 14 to 16 to analyze how longer lives are transforming the economy, employment, and societal models.
The summit, driven by GIA Longevity, will address issues such as longevity investment, healthcare innovation, financial planning, and the transformation of companies and cities in the face of a new demographic reality.
Longevity has become one of the major strategic challenges for the economy and society, and Málaga will be the stage for an international debate on how to address its implications starting tomorrow. From October 14 to 16, LifeSpan Summit 2026 will bring together nearly 200 experts, executives, investors, and representatives of public and private institutions to explore how to adapt businesses, financial systems, health, and work models to a reality where people live longer years.
The event, which will be held at the Vincci Posada del Patio hotel, was born with the mission to connect innovation, knowledge, and business strategy around longevity. The issue is no longer just how to extend life, but how to ensure that those additional years translate into well-being, autonomy, financial stability, and new opportunities for personal and professional development.
More than 70 international speakers in Málaga
The summit will gather representatives from organizations such as the World Health Organization (WHO), United Nations, World Bank, European Union, OECD, and the World Economic Forum, along with experts from the universities of Cambridge and Oxford and the Stanford Center on Longevity.
Among the participants are Haleh Nazeri, head of the Longevity Economy area at the World Economic Forum; Fiona Stewart, global head of Aging and Pensions at the World Bank; George Vradenburg, president of Davos Alzheimer’s Collaborative; and Dr. Ritu Sadana, linked to the WHO initiative for Healthy Aging.
The program will also include institutional and business representatives such as Roxana Widmer-Iliescu from the International Telecommunication Union; Teresa Rodó, executive at Merck; and María Teresa Sancho, director of Imserso in Spain.
In total, more than 70 speakers will participate in a program that includes voices from the business, technology, healthcare, financial, and social sectors, with representation from companies and institutions such as Uber, Nestlé, McKinsey Health Institute, Coursera, and Ashoka, among others.
Longevity, a new priority for companies and investors
The increase in life expectancy is transforming consumer needs and opening new opportunities in sectors such as biotechnology, preventive medicine, digital health, financial services, and continuous education.
LifeSpan Summit 2026 will address how companies and institutions can anticipate these changes and develop solutions for a population that will live, work, and participate in the economy longer. Investment in longevity, wealth planning, pension systems, employability, and lifelong learning will be among the central issues of the event.
The initiative is driven by the Global Initiative on Ageing and Longevity (GIA Longevity), an international organization based in Málaga that seeks to place healthy aging at the center of the global agenda. Holding this first international summit in the city reinforces its projection as a meeting place to address some of the great economic and social challenges of the future.
Three pillars to understand how we will live in the future
The summit’s agenda is structured around three major areas:
-
Health and well-being: healthcare innovation, biotechnology, preventive medicine, digital health, and strategies to extend healthy life years.
-
Wealth and work: investment in longevity, pensions, insurance, intergenerational financial planning, employability, and continuous education.
-
Society, identity, and purpose: inclusion, accessibility, intergenerational connection, social participation, and personal development throughout life.
For three days, Málaga will be the meeting point for international experts who will analyze how to turn the demographic challenge into an opportunity to innovate, create value, and build healthier, more inclusive societies prepared for the future.
